Cornerstone ~ Day 18: Hymns of Praise

cornerstone

This is a new version of an old favorite.  The words of The Solid Rock are poignant. The added, more modern, chorus makes it just a beautiful melody.  Edward Mote, the writer of The Solid Rock, did not grow up in a Christian home.  It is said that he did not even know that there was a God until his late teenage years.

To grow up not knowing that there is a God and then to realize that without Him there is no hope is the story of Edward Mote.  He was a cabinet maker and wrote this beautiful song while on his way to work one morning.  What a beautiful picture of what the love of Christ is really all about.  That’s the faith and hope that I would like to have.

Hillsong took the old favorite and gave it a little flair.  A beautiful reminder of who Christ is.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust is Jesus’ name

Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord
Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

My anchor holds within the veil
Christ alone, Cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord
Lord of all

He is Lord
Lord of all

When he shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless, stand before the throne

Joy to You!
