Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone version) ~ Day 3: Hymns of Praise

chains

This is a new version of an old song.  As a matter of fact, the original was written as a sermon illustration in 1773.  It was then published in 1779.  It has been played and sung millions of times since it was first recited.  AND it continues to bring a message of redemption to Christ-followers.  I love the Chris Tomlin version so I thought I’d share those words with you.

Amazing Graze – My Chains are Gone (Chris Tomlin)

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, amazing grace

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, amazing grace

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God who called me here below
Will be forever mine, will be forever mine
You are forever mine.

I pray that you will take a moment and meditate on the words.  Maybe even hum the tune or sing outloud.  Let them soak in and feel God’s “unending love, amazing grace”.

Until tomorrow!

Joy to You!
